The very first things to do when you are just engaged
Getting engaged is one of the most exciting times of your life!! It is the beginning of a new chapter and one to look forward to. With lots of planning and preparation needed, it sometimes can get a bit overwhelming. So once all the celebrating has been done, you’ll need to get to work straight away and start making some important decisions. Here are PLANIT Weddings top six things to do to kick off the wedding planning.
1. Set Up a Timetable
As soon as you get engaged, the first question you will be asked by everyone is; “when is the wedding?” You realistically won’t know the exact date until you have chosen a location. Therefore, choose a range of dates or a specific month that you think you will realistically get married in. The average engagement lasts up to fifteen months, so you’ll need to get planning straight away!
2. Insure your Engagement Ring
This may seem like an obvious one but you would be surprised with how many women forget to or never actually insure their ring. PLANIT Weddings could not recommend this tip more, especially for how busy you will be over the next few months.
3. Consider a Wedding Planner or Consultant
This is probably the most important decision you will make for your wedding day, (apart from saying I do that is). PLANIT Weddings could not recommend going with choosing to go with a Wedding Planner. A wedding planner adds the personal touch to your wedding journey, as well as being there to deal with any disasters that may arise. Wedding planners ease the stress and allow you to relax a bit more on the weeks or days leading up to the wedding.
4. Set your Budget
Setting a budget may seem like an obvious one. However, majority of couples don’t do it and this leads to unnecessary arguments with some being left disappointed with the outcome. Setting a budget allows you to have a realistic picture of what you can spend.
5. Choose up your Theme and Pick a Location
Picturing your perfect wedding will be a dream that will only come true when you have chosen the theme and location of your wedding. It is important to choose a venue sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. Choosing your theme allows you to start gathering ideas and inspiration for how you want the location to look.
6. Choose your Wedding Party
Now, it is both of your turns to propose to the groomsmen and bridesmaids. Do this early in advance, as you will need to ask advice and for help when organizing things. Choose wisely and remember it’s your day not theirs. If people are disappointed with whom you have chosen, you can always assign them another duty such as picking up your dress or a reading in the church.
